Just a number, not a name,
They believed I’d live in shame.
Eyes looked past, no voices came,
Yet deep inside burned one small flame.

No father’s pride, no mother’s hand,
No easy road, no promised land.
But every tear became a seed,
Growing stronger with each need.

I’m more than all they couldn’t see,
More than chains they placed on me.
Every scar became my light,
Every darkness taught me flight.
I found a name they can’t erase
Love has always known my face.

I built my life with broken stone,
Found my strength when I stood alone.
Piece by piece the walls came down,
Turning sorrow into crown.

We are not the words we’re told,
Not the stories bought and sold.
Every heart can rise above,
Finding hope and finding love.

No more numbers, now a name,
No more living life in shame.
Every soul deserves to shine,
Every broken heart can climb.
From the ashes we remain,
Standing tall through joy and pain.
Hear the fire, hear it sing
You were always born to dream.

More than yesterday
More than all the blame
Born with hope
Born to rise
Born to shine.

More Than Yesterday

“More Than Yesterday” is a song of identity, resilience and reclaiming the right to define ourselves beyond the labels placed upon us. It begins with the experience of being reduced to a number and overlooked by those who failed to recognise the person behind it.

Absence, rejection and hardship shape the early story, but they do not determine its ending. Every tear becomes a seed, every scar part of a growing strength. What was once experienced as brokenness becomes material from which a new life can be built.

At the heart of the song is a refusal to accept that our worth is determined by other people's judgments, expectations or failures. We are more than the stories told about us and more than the circumstances into which we were born.

The journey is not about pretending pain never existed. Instead, it transforms that history into something that can illuminate the way forward.

“More Than Yesterday” becomes an anthem for anyone who has had to discover their own worth after being made to feel invisible. It celebrates the moment when shame gives way to identity, survival becomes strength, and a person finally understands that they were always worthy of a name, a future, love and the freedom to dream.
