[CHANT – Call]
Coming together
in song and in dance
people restored
their culture enhanced

(Group hum or chant response)

[VERSE 1]
Owners of country
custodians of land
live out their stories
through rhythm and hand

Didgeridoo drone
Clapsticks rhythm

[VERSE 2]
Alive in their dreaming
their spirits still talk
dancing and singing
as didgeridoos call

[CHANT – GROUP]
Hey-ya… hey-ya…
voices rising
through the land

[VERSE 3]
The young and the old
women bare-breasted
their ancestry told
their strength to be tested

Fire crackling
Clapsticks and chanting

[FINAL VERSE]
In smoke and with fire
purity found
from earth up to sky
their spirits are bound

From earth to sky
From earth to sky
Our spirits rise
Our spirits rise

Coming Together

“Coming Together” is centred on the power of culture, community, rhythm and shared expression. Through song, dance, storytelling and ceremony, it reflects on the ways knowledge and identity can be carried across generations and strengthened when people gather together.

The song draws upon imagery of Country, custodianship, fire, smoke, rhythm and collective voices. Didgeridoo, clapsticks and chanting are imagined not simply as musical elements, but as forms of communication and continuity — sounds connecting people with land, ancestry and living cultural traditions.

At its heart is the relationship between generations. Young and old participate together, allowing knowledge to remain alive through experience rather than simply being recorded. Stories are sung, danced and embodied, connecting the present with those who walked before.

Fire and smoke add another symbolic layer, representing gathering, ceremony, purification and transformation. Earth and sky become connected spaces, with human voices rising between them.

“Coming Together” celebrates the enduring strength found when culture is lived and shared rather than observed from a distance. It is a song about belonging, memory and collective identity — recognising that traditions endure because people continue to gather, teach, listen, participate and carry their stories forward.
